Why Loft & Lie Matter for Your Child
Mitchell Loft & Lie

At iGen Golf, we focus on loft and lie because they directly affect how straight, solid, and confident your child feels on the course.

Here’s why this matters to you as a parent:

Loft = How High the Ball Goes

Loft controls how easily your child can get the ball into the air.

If loft isn’t right:

• The ball may fly too low

• Distance gaps between clubs won’t make sense

• Your child may struggle to hold greens

Proper loft helps:

• Build confidence

• Create predictable distances

• Make the game more enjoyable

Lie = Where the Ball Starts

Lie angle controls direction.

If the lie angle is off:

• The ball may consistently start left or right

• Your child may try to “fix” it with their hands

• Swing habits can develop that are hard to undo later

When lie is correct:• The club sits flat at impact

• The ball starts on target

• Your child doesn’t need to compensate

Why This Is Especially Important for Growing Kids

As kids grow:  They get taller - Their arms get longer - Their posture changes - Their shaft length changes

When shaft length changes, lie angle usually needs adjustment too. If it isn’t adjusted:

• The club no longer fits properly

• Accuracy can suffer

• Confidence can drop

The Big Picture for Parents You wouldn’t buy shoes three sizes too big and expect your child to run well.

Golf clubs are the same.

When loft and lie are correct:

• The ball flies straighter

• Contact improves

• Confidence grows

• Development stays on track

Properly fit equipment doesn’t just improve performance

It protects your child’s swing as they grow.
